Linking a text box to a variable text box?

I am making plant markers with 2 lines of variable text. I set up a page with the variable text and they print great!

The charitable organization I’m doing this for wanted to add a little text next to the variable text (1 line, centered between the 2 lines of variable text).
I’m trying to figure out how to have the static text box move depending on the amount of text in the variable text box. Could anyone let me know if / how that’s doable in lightburn?

Can’t post pics here, right?

For example, 1 stick might say
NY
static text
Aster

and another might say

Butteryfly
static text
Milkweed.

How do I get the static text box to move based on the variable text box?

THANKS!

I don’t think you can make it move, but if you align everything centered, the alignment will always be the same.

There’s apparently a rate limit for new-new users, but the general idea is to either drag-n-drop the images into the reply or use the upload icon (the upward pointing arrow in the editor toolbar) to select the file.

That you can’t do, but if the static text is always in the same place, define another text box and plunk it where you want it. It’s fine to have separate overlapping shapes and the laser will trace / scan all of them, so be sure none of the letters overlap unless you want that to happen.

If you’re using Ignore empty vars to position either one or two lines of variable text in a text box, then the static text will be in the wrong place, but we’d covered some of the alternatives in a previous discussion.

Another possibility is to use the “squeeze” option, which will make all variable text the same width, no matter the content. But depending on the text, this might have some unwanted effects.
