Does anyone know if its possible to lock the layers in a given file?
I draw in VCarve as we have a router as well as laser, and when I export as a DXF my engraving is red and my cutting is black.
Lightburn lists black as the default highest priority, so unless I remember to alter the order the layers are cut in, it cuts my shapes out before engraving them.
I cant seem to find a way to keep them in order, yet RD Works and my other cheap chinese software can manage it.
In the Cuts/Layers panel on the right of the Lightburn work space, each layer is a row. On the right of the rows there are up and down arrows. Use those arrows to move the cut/engrave order. Top layer gets done first, then in order as you go down. Yes- the cut order does not get “locked” except in each file where you set it.
Thanks for the reply. I totally get that I can move the order, it was locking it that I wanted to do. As soon as I export in VCarve it automatically opens with black at the top, followed by red. I’m just so used to black being cut, and red being engraved as that’s what my other software exports as. I guess I’ll
Have to try and change the colours it exports in
You can set any cut layer to be a ‘Line’ cut, a ‘Fill’ or set it to ‘Fill&Line’. You can then define the detailed settings for that layer and set it to be your defaults. Look to the bottom of the ‘Cut Settings Editor’ window for these buttons.
Aha brilliant thanks!
