Machine homing after each cut

Changed my leetro controller to a ruida. All works but with a few quirks. So number one, It wont home when the laser starts. I have to go into the menu and reset the xy axis before i start. Second is that after each cut the head goes back to home. I’ve done a little bit of researching and some of the settings that are in some of the pictures aren’t on mine. I this a Ruida thing or a compatability thing?

In Edit → Machine Settings → Vendor Settings, turn on the Enable Homing switches.

The 6432 manual doesn’t show any options for the after-job position, but that does not mean the actual controller lacks that option. Blundering around in the console’s menu tree is the only way to find out … :slightly_smiling_face:

The settings are already on which is strange for the homing.

When you say about the consoles menu tree do you mean the actual keypad area or the settings on Lightburn?

Before you get into twiddling buttons on the console

Edit → Machine Settings and save the current configuration.

Does it give you an error when it boots?

Does it move the right direction…

How are the home switches wired? … Home switches are only active during the boot cycle… after that they are ignored and the + or machine limit switches are used.

Home switches go to the red negative (-) inputs – green are for limit switches.

I use LmtY- and LmtX-

These assume an active state when pulled low.

All moves fine with up, down, left, right. If I move the head to the top the or the right it triggers the sensors. If I press reset nothing happens apart from it resets the size to 10,000 on both axis. I have to move to head to the top right corner where it starts and go into the control panel to reset the xy axis so that all reads 0 and knows it home. I have been through the settings with hpc who I optionally got the machine off years ago (on a leetro controller and board) he was wondering in anything could be wrong with the board. I’ll try and get some pictures tomorrow of the board and of the wiring

These values, like 10,000 is what happens when the machine fails to home.

Ensure your home switches are functional.

It should show some type of error on the console.

:smile_cat:

I’ll have to take pictures of my setup and see where things could be wrong.

Also there are no errors when I start the machine up

If it has never been able to home, that’s a problem and we should fix that first.

Give us some photos and check out the leds on the Ruida… There are x and y home leds. Most are Hall effect and just a piece of Ferris metal should activate them… Usually when you do, they light up.

Whatever it takes to trigger them, check the controllers input leds. Led 1 for the X home and 3 for the Y home.

If you can follow, this is testing the Y limit switch.

This is the board I have. I don’t have any leds on mine so can never tell.

Sorry about the pictures. I had to get someone else to take them. I’ll try and get some better ones soon

That’s why it’s a good idea to add the model number in your profile, other than just Ruida.

The photos are rather poor and I don’t see the side that has the homing switches.

Might try, on your console, Menu → diagnosis and see if it lets you see the status of these switches. You will have to push on them as they are not Hall effect.

:smile_cat:

Yeah the photos were bad sorry. I’ll update my profile too. I’m hoping it’s just a case of a wire gone funny

It does happen…

You never answered or have a photo the Ruida where I can see how the home switches are wired up… Since that’s the current issue, that would be nice if you can check or see if you can tell via the machines console.

:smile_cat:

I’ve just messaged the company I got it from and the blue sensor is the home sensor.

So an update for the issue that’s happened. It looks like Lightburn doesn’t have a few settings that rd works has. So opening rd works and reading the controller going into user and looking at the homing wasn’t on on my system

Then the issue with is homing after each cut was due to the return position setting. Now alls working great.

In the machine settings, right below it, is the home speeds settings…

:smile_cat:

Mmmm strange. Didn’t see that on mine. I’ll have a check on that one. Thanks for the heads up

Sorry about that… your question routed most of us down the wrong path…

It’s actually not re-homing, it’s doing what it’s told and returning to a set place. Didn’t think of that option…

Anyway… good luck – have fun

:smile_cat:

Thanks for your help. So glad it’s up and running now.
