Using this controller Makerbase DLC32 Max controller with Lightburn , and using direction keys for positioning Jog/continious move, yes to some sucess using a wired small keypad with mapped keys, but the motion is very juddery even on the PC keyboard. both wired !
Reading other posts about using game controllers , and searching the manual for the Makerbase DLC32 Max Board with along with the 3.5 inch hand held that plugs directly into the board, does this duplicate the functions for move and other fucnctions when Lightburn it the primary software being used. Has anyone tried it?
I have written to Makerbase to enquire, but given up waiting for the reply.
The User manual describes no mention of use of hand held along with Laser GRBL or Lightburn?
Did not really want to splash the cash not that it’s an expensive unit to buy, but just trying to avoid buying it, if it will not replicate functions.
You mean, you use the LightBurn arrow buttons to move the laser? And this is juddery? What happens if you click on them using the mouse? Did you enable continuous jogging? Otherwise, there is only one step sent to the laser each key press.
The display you can connect to the board just sends the same commands as LB or LaserGRBL. You can connect both at the same time, but not use them simultaneously. But you can jog the laser using the display and then start the job using LB, yes.
All lightburn functions work as they should, by clicking them with the mouse.
I was hoping to use a duplication of basic functions like jog pause resume with a key mapping assigning arrow keys for jog, I noticed when using them be itn the pc keyboard the motion is very juddery although in a constant state of judder on move, I read that it is because of keyboards basicly using USB it has low prority and is an intermitant signal. when contionous move is enabled all works as should with using mouse on the screen.
I have today tried a similtanious connection with the iPad or phone app that does give movement with the direction keys and once confirm the laser is in motion on the screen pause resume works ok as well. and works similtaniously with lightburn, to my suprise with basic functions. once confirming on the ipad screen the laser is in motion with a delay. of comming to the screen, again also confirming job finished for the jog/move works again as it does with lightburn.it would apear not to use the speed setting from lighburn but the default sofware firmware settings as home does not replicate the lighburn speed fast and slow search.
The issue, that started me on this was needing a pause resume, and then adding more functions to any hand held be it a game pad console with a joy stick in direction mode using key mapping with steam or the like, but of course the usb interupt would make the same as a keyboard using keys. for jog etc.
As using the door open connection stops the programme runing but gives and error no Z parameter is set re set the laser. I home and use matertial tickness with the z axis to all is enabled. after using a macro for setting the z + height with the homing as the set up does not phisically allow me a z- movement to home it has to travel z+ to home not big problem, unless this is the parameter that the door switch is confused by? homing to z+ then setting position as z65 that is the limit of movement to create the Z 0 position as focus on bed.
As the 3.5inch screen is directly connected to the board, I was curious to see what duplication of functions were available when using lightburn as the main control programe, and if continious movement can be avhieved with it unlike the Ipad that uses slow med fast or with set distances choices.
The app in conjunction with light burn works ok but can not start a job set in lightburn from it because of the confirming job has stated/finished that enables the pause resume on the ipad.
Is the Wired controller acting the same way ? is its connection just another network enablement with the same software as the app on an iPad with a different display?..
As an addition , has anyone achieved the door open to pause function on the MAX board and resume like pause/ resume with the door open alarm enabled, as it stops/ does not pause it but requires a reset and will not continue?
Dohh, lead myself down the garden path, but a GPS (good practical solution) got me home !
Problem solved for full function hand held controller, I forgot I had a 10" touch screen monitor stashed away in a box, now using it as an extended desktop with 3 meter cables, and moved the laser, move & console menus to it, works a treat.
