Greetings All
I am having issues with my roller set up. I have been burning through bottles and ruining them at the same time. I’m not at the machine at the moment, but will send current settings shortly after the history,
So I have the FA roller attachment and attempting to make 32 oz powder coated bottles. I have weighted them with rice, in an effort to thwart any unwanted shifting during the operations. However, the files I’m attempting to engrave show up properly in the preview, just to get to the point of no return in damage to the bottle.
So I borrowed the RA2 from a fellow laser operator with the Xtool D1 and installed it to my masuter pro. Just to verify the operation I performed a Grund test, and the results are as follows.
100mm sq requested
X= 100mm
Y= 88.5mm
Picture 6946 verifies the inaccurate laser placement and the increased error as the burn commences. I tried to recoup a powder coated bottle from a previous epic fail and applied etching powder. result is much more visible.
$100 =80.000
$101=39.177 As suggested by Fox Alien for there roller.
Xtool instructions do not specify set up changes other than physical connection in the provided documentation.
Additionally, I also typed in the bottle circumference in the distance window for the move function in LB for a 360deg test, when arrow clicked the travel was less than 360
CIR =289.000mm, result was 28mm short
to get a full start to end point, the distance had to be set to 327mm for a full rotation.
I hope the information provided is helpful to a quik solution. I’m sure this will boil down to $$ changes, I just need some help figuring it out.
Thanks all so much
First, wrap your bottle in painters tape and set your laser to a low power, just enough to mark the tape and you will not destroy any more bottles.
Set $101 back to what it belongs. 80? Take a screenshot of the rotary setup screen. Please take an actual screenshot rather than a photo of the screen. The glare and moire make it difficult to see.
Do a test with a 100x100 mm square and measure the results. We will work on getting the right settings after that, unless you want to work on getting your roller rotary working instead.
Hey Tim
Thanks for the response, I think you helped me out with my box tabs issue a few months ago. With that said, I have noticed that since the last update I’m running into a multitude if issues with my machine and LB together. The rotary is the priority at this point.
For instance, If I run my machine in the GRBL setting in the laser device setting? My machine homes but loses the control function, when moving the gantry. Homes fine, but I don’t have full range of motion.
In GRBL-M3 I Lose the continuous operation but have full range of motion.
New day test 1
100mm requested 110mm resulted current settings
New Issue
With GRBL set, and Changed $101 =80.000 no control of the Y axis. exp. requested 10 mm click either arrow, the Y rotates in the same direction at least 2 full rotations and stopping randomly.
This is lack of control mentioned earlier.
returning to original settings, and changed to GRBL-M3
Test 2
GRBL-M3 device setting
$101=80.000
100mm req, actual 179mm
OK, a couple things. First, I didn’t realize this was a CNC with a laser installed. I don’t know how much that matters, if at all. Let’s take the rotary out of the equation for a few minutes. When operating in flat mode what settings are you using for $100 & $101? Are you running GRBL or GRBL-M3?
With the rotary installed I disable homing. Enter $22=0
Your $30 is 80000? I have never seen one at that. It’s usually 1,000 or 10,000. Does your S-Value Max match that in Lightburn?
According to Xtool the RA2 is supposed to be set at 128 mm per rotation. You are set at 360, which would explain the multiple turns.
