“Need more input!” Short Circuit, Number5

I’m trying to match preview to target. I see a bounding box on my target but need to see the image so I can match the preview to the target. Is there a way to project the image and not the bounding box? I have an irregular shaped target so the bounding box does not work for me. I need to somehow see the laser beam preview to show the image, not the bounding box. I’m assuming it’s a setting or configuration issue.

I have an oblong target with rounded corners. When I hit preview all I see are the bounding box lines. I think I should be able to see the image (line art) so I can move the target to align with the art work. I could do that with the original software that came with the OMTech fiber laser.

And if willing,

Top is the image I want to burn. Middle is the target I want to burn to.
Bottom is the bounding box.

Can I project the top image onto the target for proper alignment. The bounding box is of no use in this scenario.

Alrighty, your photos indicate that you are using a galvo laser. Is that correct or are you perhaps using a grbl controlled galvo?

Please review all of your framing options from our galvo framing documentation:

Contour is what you’re after, it commands the red dot light to trace a path that follows the exact contours of your shapes — it takes the longest to draw, but it’s the most accurate.

Far as i know there is no way to project just the image to your project. Only the bounding box. But if your target is mounted in the correct location and facing the correct direction everything should be fine. The only thing i could think of is to put a piece of 3mm plywood under the whole target. Then frame the design and move the target so it outlines the three square sides when framing. Then set Lightburn to Cut Selected Graphics and select only the Keyhole design. Run the job at low power and it should cut perfectly over the keyhole design. If it looks ok run the whole job
