Material test: Set starting point to the first active object

When I have very small work pieces (e.g. 50x30mm) and I want to run a material test only with the squares (disabled text and border) on it, the starting point is still the same as when the text and rectangle is visible.
This makes it very hard to then place the work piece that the active objects lands on it.

Is there a possibility to either move / set the offset of the starting point to the active objects? Or maybe a possibility to export the whole material test data to a new document that it can be manually edited?

I haven’t tried it for this, but have you tried setting the start from current position to the top right corner instead of the bottom left corner?

I can change the starting point to every corner, it always will start from the border rectangle corners which surround everything and this has always an offset to the squares.

You may have to settle with making a template for placing your sample… a square that matches the border of the material test with a smaller square cut out of the centre of it for placing the sample piece.

unfortunately yes, I don’t see another option. Although I still think it is a bug because the frame is not reduced to the only activated objects (WYSIWYG)

You can make your own material test grid. Make it any size and location you want. It’s just a filled shape set in an array. You could make it any shape you want. You just have to manually adjust the power and speed setting rather than using the wizard. This portion of the video shows how to set the power scale in Shape properties.
