Maximum Number of Layers

Hi, I’m using an XTool D1 to make some xmas baubels in batches… the issue I had was that if one decoration failed for any reason… the whole batch would be ruined… 3 quid a sheet of ply lost… so I split each into layers so i’d hopefully only lose one should the worse happen…

Is the 30 layer limit all that is available? I know that the underlying issue is what I should fix, i just wanted to do my nesting in a way that reduces waste over the year because something will fail or go wrong eventually…

Cheers

Yes. It’s currently a hard limit in the application.

Instead of separating each decoration into its own layer, could you group each individual ornament and set the order priority in “Optimization Settings” In Laser window to order by group?

This should allow you to complete one ornament at a time and stop if something goes wrong.

I think your intuition is well served here. If you’re having this issue you’re likely dealing with compromised quality and may have other issues that you haven’t yet anticipated.

Thanks, that’s great, that sounds like what I need to be doing instead… i’m working with 600mm x 300mm boards… happy with the quality, the machine is serving me very well… i’m thinking power cuts, acts of cat etc… just random unexpected things happen from time to time… like me, accidentally unplugging it

When i first started engraving them, it doing doing a pass across all of them so if one failed the whole board was lost, which is why I went to the layers but I need to cut around 60 parts as separates… thanks for replying and your help, much appreciated.

Can you group them in seta of 4? That would be 15 layers used with 5 to spare.
