Measurement tool is giving inaccurate and not identical readings on same design

I am resizing an Christmas tree. The slots were sloppy so I am sizing down to 3mm wood. I mesure the wood and get consistant caliper reading of 2.98 to 3.01 mm thick. I resized the tree base to 3 mm and went back to make the tree match. Measure tool says the slot is 2.52 mm. It is 4 mm when measured with caliper. Any ideas on how to get the measure tool to measure!! Sorry. LOL.

Sorry. A little confusing It say 2.52 but when it cuts, it is 4 mm.

How are you resizing slots? With tool or manually?

Just manually modifying using nodes.

Can you post your file?
If you do it manually, I would set my grid spacing to the dimension you want and align to the grid.

If I am understanding your issue,… Have you take into account that the laser beam is like a saw that removes material, so if the tool mesures 2.52mm the cut will be 2.25 plus laser beam diameter at least?
If am right you will need to use “Kerf” adjustment to compensate the laser diameter and some scorch too.
