MECPOW X1 - Red dot always on. Fan alway off

Hello everyone,

I’ve had the Mecpow X1 since yesterday. Unfortunately, the Mecpow software can’t perform a material test, so I have to use Lightburn instead. I currently have the trial version activated.

I set up the laser following these instructions:
https://www.mediafire.com/file_premium/4cd95itxxrse9ho/X1_Lightburn_Verbindungsanleitung.doc/file

That worked surprisingly well, though it was a bit of a hassle to set up the laser area correctly; the 9-point galvo calibration just made things worse.

So far, so good, BUT I have two major problems. The red dot won’t turn off while laser cutting, no matter what settings I use. The case fan won’t turn on, and I can’t find an option for it in the device settings.

@ehendrix
You mentioned here that you integrated the laser with GRBL: Lightburn won't hook up to MECPOW X1

Can you send me your configuration file?

I still have 12 days to decide whether I want to keep it. I also have the slide extension and the rotary kit, but it’ll probably be a while before I try them out.

In LB go to the Laser window. You can see my Mecpow listed. I edited the name after creating.

At the bottom see the button “Create Manually”? Click there.

Below is the screen that comes up. Find and click “grbl GRBL”.

When I did this, it worked. Once complete you can edit the name to your Mecpow.

I did not send the config file for two reasons.
First, I don’t know how.
Second, you learn more by doing it yourself.

I hope this helps.

Eric

Hi Eric,

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work when I do it the way you described. After that, nothing works. Even just specifying a COM port doesn’t work. With the “BSLFiber | Galvo” settings, it works right away, and no serial port specification is necessary.

@DJONES1964 Did you solved you connections issues?

Thanks for asking, No I couldn’t get it to work, I tried numerous times. I finally gave up and am using the MecPow software. I don’t like it as well as Lightburn but it gets the job done.

That’s too bad, but thanks for your feedback. The software would probably work for me too if there were a material test available. I found out that I should test it using the configuration files for the Sculpfun G9 (which is apparently identical in design). I’ll do that as soon as I have time and let you know how it goes.
