Hi everyone. I´m working on a Sculpfun SF-A9 (20/40W) with the 20watts selected and out of the blue i started getting missing or irregular engraving at the edges of the forms. I normally dont make small or thin engravings on this machine, however in this file it has never happened to me.
I´ve already thinkered with speed/power, checked focus, changed Line interval to 0.08mm (it was before 0.1mm, ghanged to a diferent bulky font, cleaned the lens and the rail where x-axis move.
Can Anybody help me pls?
I don’t really see bad zones here, maybe do a closeup?
First pic. The second leg of “m” didnt engrave all the way.
Second pic. Between the “i”, “t” … The “legs” of the letters where is a more thine line it show some “nicks” on the engraving or it fades
What is the material?
What is the process?
Are you just marking it or using some kind of coating?
The more we know the better we can help.

The material os white MDF 3mm
I didnt apply any kind off coating, just engraving dont have problems cutting
My settings are Fill- Speed 1800mm/min, Power 17,5 %
Machine Sculpfun AS-F9 (20/40w) 20w on
Which direction is the X or Y axes? Would it be vertical or is the material just rotated?

The material is in the position that was engraved. X when head moves from left to right and vice-versa. X like Lightburn coords
I see the anomalies, but, I’d think they would be too long of a laser on mode or something related to it’s scan operation.
What you’re telling me is that it’s scanning along the X axes both, on the machine and in the photo?
If that’s the case I would expect them to be in the source. It has to generate code to do this, not just malfunction.
Maybe @misken can see what his thoughts are. Hang in there.

To clarify the letters are on vector. When i spoke about the x-axis rail i cleaned the machine arm.
The file itself doesnt have that incorrection… Because i’ve been using the file for quite some time and only now is happening.
Examine how it’s scanning. This has to be generated if you gave me the right information.
Hang in there.

If you use a different file, does it happen as well? Try to increase power, maybe the lens is slightly distorted and the 20% are borderline. Try if 40% remove the error. And check that “fill at at once” is enabled, such that it doesn’t do individual letters.
Don´t know why but i increased a little bit the speed from 2000mm/m to 2500mm/m and the power from 20% to 40% and it worked. Eventually i reduced power to 30% to give a more smooth engraving and it work just fine.
I also dont know why all the sudden this started happening because this file and previous settings i’ve been using them for months.
Thank you all for the help.
