Monitor / TV welcher ist der ichtige

Moin moin liebe Leute,

Hey everyone,

I need some advice on what to buy.

I need a monitor/TV.

Since I mostly work from bed (not by choice), I’m about 20 meters away from the TV.

It’s mainly for LightBurn, and occasionally for watching TV or videos. NO games.

The device should have built-in speakers.

My budget is around €500 max.

Yes, I’ve already searched endlessly, but the more I find, the more confused I get.

Ideally, I’d like a clear, concise answer; I’m completely lost right now.

Should I get a flat or curved monitor?

It can be up to about 90 cm wide.

What brand and model?

Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

Cheers

At that distance the monitor will subtend less than 3° of your visual field. You’re simply not going to be able to see single-pixel lines in the LightBurn workspace.

I looked at my 55 cm wide monitor from 6 meters and it’s basically a white rectangle with various shapes; the design in the workspace isn’t visible and none of the UI text is legible.

Sorry mein Fehler ich meinte natürlich 2 Meter.Tut mir leid

Much closer!

In round numbers, a 90 cm wide space can hold a 40 inch = 100 cm (diagonal) monitor:

That’s apparently a “smart TV” dressed up as a monitor: it comes with a remote control. There seem to be few other choices in that size.

However, 34 inch = 86 cm monitors are significantly less expensive and might suffice. Browsing through the Amazon collection will let you pick out the features you want.

Caveat: At 2 m, I cannot read the LightBurn UI text on my 27 inch = 68 cm monitor and would find it exceedingly difficult to manipulate objects / icons / tools in the LightBurn workspace. Your vision may be better than mine (which is not difficult :man_shrugging:), but enlarging the UI enough to be useful may be impossible.

IMO, a flat monitor will work better than a curved monitor, because you’ll be much farther away than the intended monitor-to-chair distance.

Also IMO, buying a known brand (Sony, LG, Samsung, etc) from a known source (an “official Amazon store” or retail site) rather than a random seller will produce better results, but I have gotten good results from new-to-me brands after checking their background.
