Monport 55w crashing at home

Hello all. I had my machine setup for rotary and tumblers, and wanted to remove it, which I did. Reconnected the aviator plug, etc…

When I turn it on it, it wants to go home and grinds for a second. Home on it is back top right. Can I set the laser to just sit in the last position used when it starts up?

FYI, it’s not the only time it’s done that after rotary work.

TIA
Gump in Tn.

Edit → machine settings → miscellaneous is an option for return position.

It has No return, Origin or Absolute Origin.

Hello Mista J

I’m assuming your talking about making these changes within the Ruida Controller itself.

Hello Jack.

I never saw those menu options in the ruida controller screen. Anything else to consider?

What did you change when you used the rotary?

I change the return postition via the machine settings in Lightburn. This graphic is for start speed, but at the bottom, right above vendor is the return postition drop down.

Hello there !

All I do when using the rotary, is click the enable rotary button within LB. When I get this coaster job done, I’ll take some pics of my controller panel settings on the Monport.

I don’t know what I’d suggest. I have different files for the machine depending on what I’m doing…

Good luck

On a side note.

I’m trying to burn 4 of these at a time.
Frist 4 no problem.

Every now and then, I hear a high pitch TICK sound. I look at the bed, and I see this. 2 top coasters have a blank line.

My power supply is reading 1ma for the most part. Speed is 320mm @ 20 power. Water is chilling at 72 degrees F via my chiller.

Thoughts ?

If it randomly happens, then it’s probably hardware…

Don’t have a clue where to look… depends on the what was skipped… did it move too far or just not lase when it should have.

:smiley_cat:

Figure it’s hardware. Power Supply possibly, especially since I think I had issues a month or so ago, when I heard a pop, and my laser quit burning during a job. I’m going to create a support ticket on it, so it’s documented.

I had already done 4. This was the 2nd set of 4.

When this job is done, I’m going to verify my mirrors are correctly aligned.

Hope all is well .

Should do this first

I actually ran a tape test 2 weeks ago, and really haven’t done much work on the laser. I’ve watched more vids this week on it, and want to run through it again. Just wondering if around the middle of the bed area, I’m clipping on mirror 3.

Instead of 4, I’m burning the bottom 2 to see if the problem goes away, even though it wasn’t there on the 1st 4.

If you are clipping anywhere, it’s not aligned properly…

But it won’t be intermittent

:smiley_cat:

Ahhhhh, that makes sense. Bottom 2 were fine.

Got it fixed. US support mentioned that my Switch could be loose or crooked. It was tight and straight.
A user on a FB group, told me to bring the gantry back to me, and position the head bottom/left. Then turn it on. That worked.
