Hello again. Just wanted to see if anyone has my machine and what could be causing the problem.
I am burning 3 mm basswood. I was cutting out a design I purchased from Etsy for Halloween decorations. cutting at 10mm/s and 65 % power. There are places that are not getting cut through. I focused the laser correctly. Any help will be appreciated. John
Hi John,
Please post a photo of what you are seeing.
If the problem is in just in the corners then check this out:
In your profile it says DSP machine, so if it is a normal CO2 machine the following points also apply to your laser, in order to cut/engrave correctly all points must be “positively” fulfilled.
Mechanics
Focus
Optics
Power
Speed
Material
If a criterion is missing (or is set incorrectly), the laser process will not work or will not be optimal.
Test this statement and see if it fits your problem.
I will try to pinpoint the problem, e.g. test with other material for which I have reference values.
PS. I assume that your compressed air system is working, it falls into the category “Mechanics”
Thanks Bernd. I will have to go over everything. thanks for the help
Thanks Nicholas. I wll take a look. John
With a Ruida, the minimum/maximum power values are applied using the Ruida start speed set within the controller.
If you are running at or below the start speed, you will only get minimum power. Mine was set to 20mm/s, and you’re below that.
