I just received my Monport MOPA 60W (YXF60) and I can’t install the Cypress drivers (supplied by the manufacturer) on my Windows 11 computer. I’ve tried several times but it doesn’t work, but it works on a Windows 10 computer.
The driver is CypressDriverInstaller 1.0.1.67
I’ve contacted Monport support but I don’t think they understand the problem and keep referring me to the manual.
The laser works with a BSL motherboard, but I don’t know any more about it.
I’m now wondering if anyone has managed to use this driver on W11?
I don’t have any more information about the motherboard and I’m afraid of doing something wrong by opening the machine to see.
I’ve sent an e-mail to Monport support to get more details.
1.With laser connected and powered ON when you insert / remove the USB plug does Windows make a sound?
Does your laser appears in Device Manager? If so perhaps you could try updating the driver trough Windows to check a newer version or trough Windows Update > optional updates
Yes, the usb is detected when I plug in my usb cable, but the pre-peripheral is not recognized. I just have an unknown peripheral. I tried to force the detection of the drivers by pointing to the Cypress installation folder, but it doesn’t find anything.
Maybe I should do a clean install and try again. I may have another conflicting driver.
I got an answer from Monport support on my motherboard:
“The full name of BSL motherboard is Basiliang Laser Marking Card”
It was simple, but I missed it.
The problem is with the USB cable. With a 1m cable it works, 2m it works, 3m and more it doesn’t work.
The instructions say : Note: The computer should not be placed more than 15 feet (4.5 meters) from the laser marker to avoid possible signal interference
So there’s normally leeway.
I may have a machine that produces interference, I’ll try to unplug everything to check.
Thanks for your feedback jkwilborn. But I have to admit that I’m a bit overwhelmed by it all.
I got a new email from Monport:
As per our technicians’ feedback, the longer the USB cable is, the weaker the signal transmission becomes.
Using a 3m cable may lead to a line error, which is likely causing the issue you’re experiencing.
We recommend using a shorter, high-quality cable (preferably 2m or less) to ensure stable communication with the machine.
So, contrary to the instructions, it’s not possible to use a cable longer than 2m. I’ve just ordered a cable extension with a signal amplifier to see if it works.
