I wanted to share the 3 things I’ve modded on my laser that I definitely would do again.
#1 - Plumbed in an air compressor (5 to 40 PSI) for the air assistance and ditched the air pump.
#2 - Adjusted the power supply so when setting the power to 100%, it won’t overdrive the laser tube. For me ~26ma. Prior to the adjustment, setting the power to 65%, would drive the tube at 26ma. Thankfully I had heard about the issue before destroying my RECI 100W tube. That said, dealing with odd-ball power settings for about 4 years now has always been a royal pain.
#3 - Wireless controller. Just easier and far more convenient with setting up table height. As an aside, not a big fan of the auto focus units. Find manually setting the height quicker and less prone to crossing the height probe by accident or bumping the laser, etc.
Sharing in the hopes it might help someone else on the fence and considering these mods…
