My laser is engraving random shapes

Put a new
Genmitsu GRBL Control Board for 3018PV2 board on yesterday My laser is engraving random shapes just looked cant see if anything obvious im not that good at this stuff I just draw a Circle I get a LIne ,If I draw a Sqaure I get a Long rectangle it’s not on rotary I have checked ?

It sounds like you haven’t set your board up and Lightburn is sending commands, thinking it’s still working with your old control board.

I reset lightburn altogether unless it picked something up the circle and square i used off lightburn i have my chip pan on at the moment will be back in a bout half hour.

I have lookedI, downloaded everything again, and this is a letter A. Did it come out on its side and stretcherd?

What I meant to ask was if you had properly set up the board’s firmware settings on the board itself. I am not familiar with your specific board or its default settings, so I’m not sure how it comes set up from the factory, but it possibly needs to be reconfigured before it will work as expected.

It’s been a while since I built my machine, but I believe that I needed to connect to the board with a different piece of software to set it up before use.

The Board is brand new to me as in last night ,Just looking at some videos now Sainsmart which is Genmisti I seem to have done everything right but one is saying download everything again incase its a dodgy like ch340 driver ?

This is the second time someone had mentioned parameter settings for your board. I recommend you go through everything setting it up before trying to make parts.

will look tomoz my specs are broke ned to get them from specs savers tomoz got my old ones on have to squint all the time doing my eyes in cheers.

hi im new to lasers and i was wondering if anyone can tell me how to lower the laser down to do engraving

Jasper, you should have created another Topic as this question is off subject.

You go from Cut to Etch by varying the laser power percentage in the Cuts Editor window. You can also do by varying the speed, in the same window.
