My machine is giving a limit switch warning

I recently set up my Snapmaker Ray 40W laser machine and configured the initial work area to X = 600 mm and Y = 400 mm. However, whenever I start a laser job, the laser head attempts to move beyond these boundaries. As a result, it crashes into the machine’s edges and triggers a limit switch warning.

At the moment, I’m unable to use the machine in automatic mode. I have to manually move the laser head to the desired cutting position before each job, which is quite inconvenient.

Could you please assist me in correcting the machine settings so that the laser operates properly within the defined work area?

Thank you in advance for your support.

Dose it home and boot properly?

If you can try it with start from set to absolute coordinates and it works then your job origin is likely incorrect. These are in the Laser window.

If it fails with absolute coordinates, check the machine origin is correct in the device settings.

Did this come with some kind of device file for Lightburn?

The machine waits in the top-left corner in home mode. When I fill the 600 × 400 mm area in LightBurn and try to start the job, it gives a limit switch warning. So I definitely can’t use the full working area. I’m sure I entered the X and Y values correctly. I would appreciate it if you could explain the steps I need to follow in more detail, as this is my first time using such a machine. Thank you in advance.

I though most of these home front left, did you pick the correct corner when you set up the device?

Did you follow any setup guidelines?

Lightburn has a setup for grbl machines, but your issue is likely more of how the coordinate system works.

If you want to do a fill in that is 600x400mm and that’s your machines work area, you leave no area, within your work area, for overscan to occur.

Are you sure there isn’t a lbdev file for your machine from the manufacturer?
