Need help with LightBurn and longer laser

A friend of mine has a longer laser 10w. We are using lightburn. The problem we can’t figure out is we can go to the move pain and fire the laser with the fire button, and the laser will fire. But when we try to burn something, in this case a clock face, we get no laser power. We have exhausted the limited knowledge we have and are hoping someone can give us some suggestions to try.

Can you elaborate on what this means? Are you saying the laser does not come on at all? Or are you saying that you’re not getting as much of a burn as you expect?

First make sure that your settings are correct in Edit->Device Settings. Your S Value Max should most likely be 1000. It needs to match $30 in Edit->Machine Settings.

Secondly, make sure you have good focus. That’s a prerequisite.

If the first two are addressed and you are getting a laser light but not as much a burn then it’s likely that you’re just moving much too quickly at too low a power. Increase power or decrease speed. Continue doing so until a mark is achieved.

If none of this works or makes sense take a full screenshot of LightBurn with your design and Cut settings in view.

yes, the laser come’s on but with 0 power. focal length is correct. If I understand you correctly, Edit->Device Settings s value = 1000 And then In the machine settings do I, “read” them and make sure I see $30=1000?

Yes. It should already be 1000 but good to confirm.

thanks I’ll check to see if that’s the problem
