Need help with work area

I an running the 6550-PRO and having a problem with the work area. I have my work area set at X = 25" and Y set at 19". My project is 4.00" x 4.00". Start position is set to the center of the project and the project is centered on the work area. When I click on Start I get the following error message:

ALARM:2

G-code motion target exceeds machine travel. Machine position safely retained. Alarm may be unlocked. (Right-click the ‘Devices’ button to reset the connection)

On or near line 4:

Job halted

Stream completed in 0:00

ok

safedoor pin init

Grbl 1.1 [‘$’ for help]

Your Grbl may not support Variable Power mode (M4)

If your laser does not turn off between cuts,

switch to the GRBL-M3 device

[MSG:‘$H’|‘$X’ to unlock]

[MSG:Caution: Unlocked]

ok

I right click on the the Device but keep getting the same message.

2 tips:

  1. Use Absolute Coords until you’re well familiar with the laser
  2. After homing, never move the laser by hand. Use jogging controls exclusively

Sounds like machine is unaware of its position. The procedure above should avoid that.

I have always used current position but I will try AC. Just can’t right now as one of the limit switches is broke and waiting for a new one from YoraHome. But my thinking is after the limit switch is replaced and I can home the machine the problem should be fixed. Just hoping i could have used my laser while waiting for it. :unamused:  :disappointed_relieved:

Until it arrives try this:
Disable “Auto-home on start”. I suspect you already have. Start the machine with the laser head at front-left. At startup position should be set to 0,0. Check by pushing “Get Position” in Move window. If it is indeed 0,0 then you can use Absolute Coords without issue.

Your my new best friend!! :grinning:  Thank you!!!
