Sorry it’s a camera picture not a screen print, this is from my workshop computer… and forgot the keys for print screen…
I had already installed new beta version on Home computer and no problems, then I tried to install it on the workshop computer and…
Best guess would be…
Did you renew your license? I think you must have since the home computer upgraded.
Is the shop computer on line? If not, it may not know you renewed.
Mike has it right here - your updates period has expired on your License Key as far as LightBurn is able to tell. If your workshop PC is not connected to the internet, it likely has not ‘phoned home’ to change the renewals period to reflect your renewal (which appears to have worked on your home PC)
Funny though…I thought my update was in May…So I have just checked my bank statements and was right…May 2022 then May 2023…
When I first joined in May 2022 I installed the software to home computer and then placed copy of software to a USB stick and put that onto the workshop computer…No problems until now…
Please can you explain to an old man about where I may have gone wrong…
Looking into our systems, I do find the order you reference. I am going to send you a private message here, so we can discuss and share private info without sharing in public.
Update: Sent
Rick I only have one License number (which I have miss placed)… and as your records show The name and address is real but then the other is a name I go by for all computer and woodworking stuff…
I don’t ever remember getting another key…Only using usb stick for the workshop computer…
All updates have been done this way…
I tried to reply via email but it came back…
Side note:
There’s a single “Print Screen” button on your keyboard; usually near the top right. Then open in your favorite paint program and paste.
Or press the “Shift + Windows key + s” simultaneously to open its native Screen capture. I prefer this method because you can the use your mouse and lasso around only the portion of the screen you want or need. This tool allows you to save directly without the need to open another program and save. Play around with it. Takes longer to explain than to use.
Cheers!
No question in my mind. This key is good well into July 2024!
There’s nothing wrong with your memory. This matches our records. I can see that you have one key associated with your email address and two computers using LightBurn. One of your computers (BELONGAMERLIN) checked in yesterday, so that’s the one that got online and authorized LightBurn 1.5.00.
Also true! When folks are proactive and update their licenses early, there’s a bonus of a couple of months of use.
There is a complicated ‘offline activation’ method for shop computers. When this is applied it shows up in our internal License tools. Neither of your computers show ‘offline activation’.
Somehow your shop computer got online and checked in with us on October 15, 2022. You bought your license in May 2022 and this would have worked with 1.4.xx until Late May 2023.
Here’s the likely source of the confusion.
Oz back-dated ALL the 1.4.xx patches to work for everyone who had a working 1.4.01 - With the Key in the Shop computer you could have installed 1.4.01 Public Beta before the updates stopped. If that worked in the shop computer then all the other 1.4.xx updates would have worked.
You would have been able to carry the updated versions into the shop right through to the last of the 1.4.05 updates and activate them with that key that checked in.
Now that you’ve made the jump to 1.5.00 Beta it’s out of range, the key for the shop computer can’t check in to confirm that you’ve updated.
You have two options:
Roll the shop computer back to 1.4.05 - it should find the key and activate without issue.
OR
Connect the shop computer to the internet and launch LightBurn 1.5.00 - LightBurn will check in. LightBurn will allow this Update and all updates until late July 2024.
If you renew early, LightBurn will add 2 months and 12 months worth of updates, to your July 2024 expiry. That would carry you until September 2025.
If you update the key, before connecting the shop computer to the internet, you won’t have to reconnect the shop computer to the internet for about 18 months.
I hope this all made sense. Feel free to ask if you get stuck.
Thanks for the explanation John…I tried the reinstalling of 1.4.05 but that did not work so I tried the earlier version 1.4.04 and still no go…
So I guess will have to drag the long cable out and hook up to the internet, on day I may be able to afford a wireless connection, it’s about 25 to 30 meters to my shop from the house modem to computer…
You can process an offline activation from the License Portal. That might be easier then running the cable.
can you hot spot to your phone and update using your mobile data?
