I’m brand new here and very new to LightBurn and laser’s in general but I thought I’d share an experience I had calibrating the camera on my brand new LaserOne XRF. I could never get the circle pattern to work at all. Everything I did, following all kinds of recommendations about having the image flat or blocking out the honeycomb gave me the same result, “noisy image” When I finally tried the AprilTags image taped to a piece of MDF it worked. I hope this helps someone.
Thank you for confirming that. We agree, the AprilTags are superior to the old circles calibration pattern in every way.
AprilTags are really cool. Computers can recognize and track them accurately. This opens up the possibility to develop auto-alignment, which will be coming
Keep your settings if you are happy, but there is a newer way to calibrate the camera lens.
LightBurn version 2.0 introduced a new way to calibrate the camera lens. It uses the new calibration card with the AprilTags and tracking function.
This feature is still in testing (Labs feature) but is currently the most precise way to calibrate your camera. It’s only accessible with a right click on the “Camera” window:
