New lIbrary entry not saving

I am trying to create a new entry in the 1/2 Inch folder. The layer i want is highlighted and i click the Create New from Layer button. it allows me to fill out the information, title, thickness, and description, but it will not save. i have tried multiple times and it always fails to save.

What am i missing.

  • Which operating system is running on your Dell?
  • Which version of LightBurn?

When it fails to save,

  • is a message generated?
  • does it indicate that LightBurn Did or Did not save?

My first wild guess is that the Library is saved under OneDrive, or is on some type of removable storage or shared Directory that doesn’t update the file immediately.

Please locate your library file on your hard drive / or removable storage / or OneDrive Cloud service and share the full file-path here so we can see if this is related to the directory selected for your Library.

Windows 11 Pro is my operating system.

the message it gives is: Title [Library Saved Failed] - Body [The library failed to save]

I am not certain how exactly to locate it, but I believe it to be on an external drive that I keep permanently in my computer.

Interesting! This could be the cause. Is it a USB drive?

Does your computer also have an unshared C: Drive?

I see that mine is in my real name directory as a subdirectory of C:\Users
Searching for the file extension .clb may prove helpful.

It is on my D: drive in a folder called Laser Beam Files? The D: drive is a hard drive in my computer. I am not certain how to make sure of this through the software. I can’t find a place in the software allowing me to point to a library.

I found several files that could be the library. I opened each of the files with NotePad and found the one that matched my current library that wouldn’t save. The rest I deleted (they were empty anyway). Then I notice that the extension had a .new at the very end. Not sure why but I went ahead and deleted that part and left the rest. Now the library is saving.

I think the problem is solved. Thank you for the help.
