New to lightburn- help!

Can someone guide me on the appropriate settings I would use when engraving 1/8 inch basswood with a vevor 20w engraver?

what would be a good starting point for the speed and power if we’re looking for the engraving to be deep enough to stamp?

We’ll then cut out that engraved image. so if there are recommended settings for cutting and how many passes that would be great!
thanks!

Best starting point would be materials test in laser tools located at top menu.
My 10w will cut 1/8 at about 325mm/min at 100%

There are way too many combinations of factors for us to give you accurate advice. The power and speed needs can change from day to day and definitely can change from one piece of wood to another. With enough experience, you will be able to get your settings very close on the first try.

+1 to material test - the only way to learn how is to try and make mistakes, then you correct the mistakes and get a better result. There is no shortcut in the game.

Please keep in mind that “cutting” and “engraving” are two ends of the same string.
