Hi i am new to this. Will be getting my sculpfun s9 tomorrow. I have downloaded GBRL and have been looking for files to download so i can start practicing. Anyone got any tips or advice would be very much appreciated
Welcome to the forum.
I assume you downloaded the LightBurn grbl version. My best suggestion for getting started with your new machine and LightBurn is to use LightBurn’s fine documentation and the many short but precise LightBurn videos on YouTube, search directly for LightBurn instructions from LightBurn.
Google Lightburn youtube. This link will be among the gazillion listed.
You will not find many Lightburn files out there. The best place for these is here in this forum. Art files are a different matter. I get overloaded when looking for an image. You can practice with these even before you get the machine.
Then come back here with your questions. 
Learn to download simple black and white images or.svg files.
Learn how to use TRACE.
Then go wild. Pushing buttons and trying out commands is the best way to get started.
Decide what your interest with it will be so you can decide on a material/materials and start with doing material tests.
Recycled cardboard is a good place to start. Everyone has an Amazon box or two

Just a Random thought. When you screw up one of your Stainless Steel tumblers, keep it! Use it to test power settings with. Denote the color and settings. Start to build a library of tumblers based on Color and Lens your using. For example, I have some listed like this.
100mm Orange 20oz Tumb COL 27+ 2
100mm Black 20oz Tumb COL 27
100mm Purple 20oz Tumb.COL 27 -1
The settings for all 3 are different for me. The COL reference is where my arrow on the column sits for each tumbler.
