New User Vevor G3 20watt Co2 - low power and doesn't carve

The Laser is always at low power and I cant figure it out

Have you confirmed that your focus is set to be correct?

Vevor G3 20watt Co2

I can’t find this one.. Do you have a link to it?

:grinning_cat:

The focus is set with an 8mm plate and it is set.

I also have a simple software called Laser GRBL and it works perfectly so its some setting in Light Burn

In the Console window, enter $$. Now tell us what the values of GRBL parameters $30 and $31 are.

$30=1000.000 $31=0.000

What speed units are you set for in both, mm/s or mm/m?

The speed is mm/s

The “standard” for diode lasers is mm/m. This helps put everyone on the same units when diagnosing problems. Is it possible you have mm/m in LaserGRBL and mm/s in Lightburn?

to be honest I’m out of my depth here. The LaserGRBL is so basic that I can"t look at any of the configuration data, or understand it. The Light Burn appealed to me due to the options for creating the image to be carved but it just runs the laser like is doing a demonstration not actually carving . My mistake is believing that someone in the customer service side would know what my problem is and offer a solution but its crickets! in the end I"m only out a hundred bucks so its okay, another life lesson learned. Thanks for the help

Please do not give up!

Upload your .lbrn2 file so we can examine it.

Being a novice here I don’t know what that file is or where to find it. I’ll try and figure it out, stand by.

I’ll try this’

I looked at your file. Without the image created by LaserGRBL, it is hard to guess what it generated.

In LaserGRBL, I think it defaults to Constant Power mode.

Lightburn defaults to Constant Power mode as OFF. This means the output power will vary with speed. The advantage is that it will reduce power in corners, where it stops, and prevents overburn there.

Something that would have a greater effect is that your 6000mm/m, 20% power is much too fast for etching wood with any darkness to the pattern. Doing cutting boards, my 20w settings are 3500mm/m and 40% power for a good burn.

I played with yours a bit, like converting to vectors, cleaning up the remnant spots, and using the Fill mode. Run it and see if you get a fair burn pattern.

Past my bedtime too, morning it is.

I’ll Try it as soon as I get off work this afternoon, Thanks
