Newbie tips for engraving card / paper

Hi guys, I have an Emblaser1 and just want to use it for engraving images onto card / thick paper.

Do any of you have any tips for using Lightburn for this. I am using Inkscape to manipulate the images, should the image be vector or raster, bmp, png etc.

I’d really appreciate any tips

It really depends on what the source is. If the images are just solid silhouettes or outlines, and don’t have shading, then vectors will give you the most flexibility. If they are shaded or photographic, then you’ll need to use an image format. PNG is useful because it allows transparent regions, which will be ignored if you invert or dither. Otherwise the format doesn’t make much difference - LightBurn will take PNG, BMP, JPG, etc.
