I’ve attached a screenshot of the opening dialog box. It appears the list of previous projects is blank. I believe it would be better to show the same list of projects as shown in the previously- loaded version.
Hello Tim,
I’m unable to reproduce this. My list of Recent Projects goes way back to my first project in MillMage.
The “RecentFiles” are stored in the prefs.ini file in the Prefs Folder along with the other settings.
Do you still have your devices in this installation?
I thought I observed a difference between two uses of MM. I reinstalled the latest RC and I was able to duplicate what I thought I saw. There are two screen shots for this reply. One has yellow highlighting and the other blue. When installing MM, there is a check box to start MM or not. By default its checked on. At that invocation it shows a design I made early this morning. So I stopped MM and went back in using the installed icon. Then in blue is the list of projects - not the 4" bracket I designed but my projects that I’ve been playing with and learning MM for the last little bit. I think if I recall, for the projects of the blue, I think I saved those by changing directory and saving them. Perhaps MM is only listing projects from the default save location on first-time invocation and then after that its looks at the place I saved them last time. I don’t know but try the steps I did to see if you get the same results. Hope this helps.
I think you figured it out.
I disagree with this being a good thing. The dialog says a list of recent projects. Its doesn’t say “Recent Projects from directory”. It should be a list of recent projects making the path essentailly transparent at this point. Yes, you need to track the full path and only show the name but no matter the location, any project wherever saved is still a “Current Project”.
I save files all over the place on my hard drive. MillMage remembers where I saved each one. But if I move or delete a file, it does not know that. What is confusing is that you can select one from the list, but it just opens the last folder you used anyhow. If they showed the list without allowing a file to be selected, I think that would be better.
I have not played with it enough to get into the gritty, so my version may not be exact.
