I’m trying to curve some text but I do not have a blue dot and the option to apply path to text is grayed out. Please help!
Are you sure your text is actually text or is it a curve? If you can attach your LightBurn file here we’ll take a look. I’ll be off to bed soon but if you post it before I do then I’ll take a look tonight.
Hold down Ctrl key to get blue dot
Marcus - I’m not sure I understand your reply. I want to have the text that I typed in a Lightburn project to curve. I do not have a blue dot and the option of applying text to path is grayed out.
Chris - hold down the control key and then what? When I just hold it down while text is selected, nothing happens.
I just wanted to confirm that it was actual text or whether it was text that had been converted to a curve. Sometimes people have problems with ‘text’ and it turns out that the ‘text’ is actually a curve.
Can you attach your LightBurn file to take a look at?
The curve text function can disappear if you’ve modified the text to the point that it isn’t exactly text anymore. It can look exactly like the text you typed in, and it can still appear to be text or letters but you’ll lose text editing and the blue dot handle.
Offhand, I can think of several ways the curve text function can be made inactive.
- The text could have been converted to an image and then traced.
- The text could have been converted to path directly
- The LightBurn file could have been saved on one computer and moved to a different computer that doesn’t have the necessary Font File. This will cause the text to revert to line art without text editing functionality.
If yoiu’re willing, please attach your LightBurn file. A few people here have volunteered to try to see what’s going on.
Interesting. Thank you! I made a new text and a dot appeared. I wasn’t aware that something like that can happen.
Just rechecked it, my text (1.6.03) has the blue dot now as soon as I select text. The only difference I see is it now appears toward left hand end of text, before it was in top right of text.
