When I pull in an image and convert it using the trace function, often time the image has allot of small internal made up of nodes. I have to go into each shape and delete to clean up the image. I viewed a video on how to select the image and delete nodes that have less than 3 or 4 for example in one or two keystrokes versus picking each one and deleting…unfortunately I can’t find the video or remember how to group delete these unwanted shapes. Any help on how to group delete nodes….Thanks
Optimise Shapes!
Although it’s (apparently) not documented, you can drag-select a rectangle containing the nodes.
For bulk cleanup, though, it’s hard to beat the Optimize Selected Shapes tool:
Tweak the sliders to eliminate most of the cruft, then twiddle what’s left by hand.
First, I suggest using the ‘Ignore Less Than’ option to assist with your initial Image Trace.
Ignore Less Than¶
Instructs LightBurn not to trace areas where the amount of pixels in the valid brightness range is lower than this number. Increase the number of pixels in the Ignore Less Than field to clean up noisy images by removing small areas from the result.
Second, for those traces where there are a bunch of small shapes you want to select and remove, have a look at ‘Select Shapes Smaller Than Selected’.
And if you are in Node Edit mode, you can select a node, then hold shift and click another node to add to the selection. Then hit the delete key to remove the selected nodes. Holding the CTRL key subtracts a node from the selection. ![]()
Edit: And as @ednisley mentions, the drag-selection also works for selecting one or more nodes to the selection set. You can do this multiple times, holding the shift while drag selecting. And again doing the same but holding the CTRL key deselects.
Rick,
Thank you for the feedback! I tried the “Ignore Less Than” function and that worked well—it was what I had seen in the video. I’ll also try the other edit functions you suggested, as they look like they will be very helpful.
I appreciate the input from everyone!
