Node edit not allowing me to delete nodes

I’ve tried both the latest pre-release and version 1.7.08 on a MacBook Pro M4. I can get tne nodes to show up using the node edit tool, but cannot delete nodes nor move them. I’ve verified the object is a path and not a standard object (such as a rectangle).

To reproduce, I create a rectangle, then a series of tabs and pockets around the perimeter using the boolean subtraction tool. I then duplicate the result, select the object, and open the node edit tool. The nodes show up, but I cannot do anything with them. I can select a node or hover over it and hit the D key to delete the node, but nothing happens.

Any suggestions?

Update: Using the node tool in the tool bar is the part that doesn’t work. If I select the node edit tool in the menu, it works there.

Make sure you’re hitting the real Edit Nodes tool icon, not the distressingly similar Primary Shapes hexagon icon right next to it:

Source: Been there, done that. :slightly_smiling_face:

Once you select the Node Edit in the toolbar, do not use the CTRL key. Just hit the letter for the desired operation. Been there and done that too.

OK. I see my error. I was trying to use the icon 2nd from the bottom, just below the separator, not the true node edit tool sixth down from the top.

Thanks for the comments.

The tiny arrow in that icon suggests you’re picking the starting point for the shape, but until you know that, they’re all pretty much indistinguishable:
