Is there a way to have inserted nodes default to corner nodes instead of smooth? I mostly use corner nodes because they make adjusting lines much easier. However, every time I insert a node, it defaults to smooth, and having to manually convert each one is really frustrating.
Occasionally, it will insert a corner node automatically, but I can’t figure out any pattern behind when that happens.
If there’s no way to change this behavior, that’s fine—I’ll just adjust my expectations so it doesn’t bother me as much. But I’d really appreciate knowing either way.
It’s likely the way you use your mouse when drawing that gives you curves instead of straight lines, which also automatically inserts nodes for each change in direction. Click, release the left mouse button and drag a line and click and release again for a change in direction. To finish, grab the start of your shape to close it or just double-click.
Also try pointing to a curve and pressing control+l
Inserted nodes adopt the type from the parent segment. For example, if you insert a node in a line, the node will be a corner. If you insert into a curve, the node will be “smooth”.
If possible, convert the segment to a line before inserting any nodes.
