Hi all. I am wondering why my machine does not find the center of my material for my project. I had followed youtube examples, which seem pretty much a no brainer. But nothing seemed to work. The laser goes off in another direction instead of finding the center of my project material. Example, such as a square coaster. My laser machine is by TwoTrees and is a 5wt in case you need to know. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
Can you explain what you’re trying to do at a higher level?
Your machine has no mechanism by which it can auto-find the center of the material so not clear what you’re attempting.
Thank you for your reply. I am using LightBurn like many of you. I followed some YouTube videos on centering your item (drink coaster) I use the set laser position button and click on the page item that I am going to burn on the coaster. (Size 4"x4") as an example. When I click on the center of the picture that I am burning, the laser goes off in another direction instead of finding the center of the object (coaster). Hope that I am making sense? I am still learning all the in and outs on lasering.
I suggest you start with learning how the various “Start From” modes work.
You can watch a video here to get a better understanding.
Understanding The Different Start From Modes In LightBurn - YouTube
In general, I advise all new users to start with using Absolute Coords as it’s the most intuitive mode since the location of items in the workspace matches the location on your laser bed.
You haven’t noted what Start From mode you’re working in but in any case this will help you understand how that affects job location. Again, I’d advise you start with Absolute Coords.
I did watch a video on YouTube about Absolute Coords. My start is the center on Job Origin. I will check out your link, thank you much for you input.
Wherever the laser head moves to when you select the center of your project, this is where your tiles needs to be located.
Thank you. I always thought that when I pick the location of my tiles center that is where the laser would move to?
That is the case if you use Absolute Coords.
