Odd Letter Spacing on Rotary

Hey everyone!

I just started having a weird issue with text on my rotary. The first character or two are always spaced further apart than the rest.

EG: The word “Testing” on a glass, horizontal. “T e sting” is what I get with the Arial font, and “T esting” with the Dancing Script font. None of the letters are stretched or compressed, so I don’t think it’s a rotary setup issue or an issue with the glass slipping. I’ve used both fonts in the past with no issues.

Any ideas?

I’ve had problems with trying to do much that requires the vessel to move quickly. If I fill, I try and configure it so it’s a smooth motion in the Y axis on mine. I’ve also set my Y acceleration down to 20mm/s. Maybe that’s too fast.

:smiley_cat:

That’s where I have my accel. set. And if it was an acceleration issue, wouldn’t the problem happen to all the letters?

Where the cup gets traction is a slippery slope in that it break lose at one location but not another.

Once it was set I haven’t seen any variations, except slippage, that appears on the mug.

Do you mind posting the .lbrn2 file and let me look at how it’s working?

:smiley_cat:

I didn’t keep the file as I was just testing/dialing in the rotary. Oddly enough, this didn’t happen the day before, with the same glasses.

I’ll try it again a little later and post back. Thanks!

I did mine with the ‘scan’ mode or ‘fill’ so it slowly rotates the cup while x does it’s work.

Here is a logo on a stainless steel cup…

Ensure you don’t have ‘flood fill’ selected on the layer.

:smiley_cat:

Flood fill was off. The other day it was fine aside from the fuzzy edges and that was taken care of with the scanning offset adjustment. Any chance that could be the issue?

Usually you see the scanning offset occur at higher speeds. I don’t know what to advise at this point. I’m still curious on how it’s physically happening…

:smiley_cat:

Me too! lol

I am running it at around 400mm/s, but the Y axis is around 20.
