Preface I am a complete beginner to Lasers, but have some experience with CNC.
I have an OMTech K40+ that is supposed to be light burn compatible out of the box. I am able to get light burn to move the laser head, but I cannot get it to fire the laser. The laser will fire when pressing the test button on the potentiometer, so I have dug through the few other instances of this I could find on these forms, and tried the other errors people had like setting the $30 value to 1000, but it was already at that value. Another form referenced a switch on the controller that needed to be turned on, but I do not have a switch. OMTech support has been rather useless, and I may just send the unit back if I cannot figure it out. I am using a MacBook Air running Sonoma to control the laser. Hoping someone else may be able to help before I have to repack this brick.
It is quite difficult to see what is going wrong here, it could be many things. Your controls work, your laser works but you can’t get it to cut or engrave your project. The first thing that you could do is to export your settings so we can have a look. The second thing is when you create a simple project of a circle for example, make a printscreen of your Cuts / Layer settings.
Go to CONSOLE, type $$ (copy the results in a textfile and save it)
Draw a circle (or whatever), make a printscreen of the cuts and layers of the settings, like this:
