Only able to engrave text, not images

I have been trying to engrave an image, The image starts to engrave but stops after a few minutes. I can make a file with a few lines of text and it engraves great. I can also make a square and set to fill and it engraves the whole thing. I does not stop on text or filling the square.

Is this a lightburn issue or is it a PC issue? do I need to replace pc?

Make sure your image is not too close to the edge of the workspace.

We can get you sorted out w/o buying a new PC.

Thanks for the reply. I run 2 other machines with lightburn, all on seperate PC`s

Anything i want to engrave is in center of screen and work area, Both the text and images.

Since the machine is connected to pc and the text and I can fill engrave a square rules out usb problems.

I have adjusted speed slower, which made no differance. When engraving the image, is sort of stutters before is completily stops.

Try setting the scan angle to 180 degrees to see what happens. This will make it scan from the top down instead of bottom up.

Changing the scan Angle does not make any differance, other than scan angle. Here is a screen shot of the cuts and lyers window…

I also put a box around the image, then removed the image. this way the box is in exact location as the image was. I was able to mark the box, and it will fill it.

also getting this error…

Should have started with that. You have a communications problem. The laser can keep up with the zig-zag of a box fill. An image also includes laser power change commands rapid fire. Reseat the USB connections and consider a new USB cable not longer than 10 feet. Ideal is buying a quality shielded USB cable that has a ferrite (big knot) on it.

I will try cable from other machines

I have connected 3 differant Usb cables, 1 brand new, 2 from other machines. All have the ferrite filter.

I cleaned all connections on PC, control board and cables.

same problem exists. When I press the start button laser moves into position, Laser fires but does not move to engrave the image.

Please post a screenshot of the workspace and the preview page.

Can you also try a different image?

You are not telling us about any error messages in the Console window.

yes I have tryed several images.

Just for giggles, put the image on a different layer to see if the reaction is the same.

Change the interpolation method (grayscale vs. stuki)

Try to change the size of the image (shrink it by 50%)

Let’s get this fixed :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

None of the above 3 made any differance

FWIW - text and Vectors are pretty simple (comparatively) to control vs. images. Vectors have ON/OFF at a set power level.

Images, OTOH, you have to also vary the power level for EACH pinpoint. The engrave speed setting may be too high to allow your control board sufficient time to resolve the commands for each point. Will you please try cutting your engrave speed to 25% , just for funsies??

I reduced speed to both 50% and 25%, made no differance.

How about you load the LB file to the forum, so the guru crew can put hands on with the benefit of a large sample size of machines and experience?

Horse 100.lbrn2 (4.1 MB) I also just noticed I am not able to manualy fire the laser with the button. YES it is enabled.

If that is the only error message, do this for us:

  1. In the Console window, turn on Show All.
  2. Then right-click and select Clear Window.
  3. In the Laser window, click on Run.
  4. Go back to the Console window and copy everrything there.
  5. Paste that text in a Reply.
