Origin and starting point questions

New to Lightburn and have watched the tutorials but something still isn’t making sense to me.
I have a few files I made for cutting parts out of balsa and plywood on my Sculpfun S9 (With extension) and it seems no matter how hard I try I always screw up one of the files when it comes to the starting point.
I always start with the machine in the front left corner. It isn’t quite 0,0 because of the way the machine is setup so I created a point I called “S9 Origin” and set that to the corner where I want it to start on a job. Once I load the file I use Lighburn to move to various points in the file to make sure my material is in the right position in the machine and once I have that set I return the machine to the position I setup. Then, when I click start, the machine will move to a position that it didn’t go to when I was testing and start cutting so that my file will no longer fit on the material.
It is very frustrating and I know where is something I am missing or doing wrong. Can anyone help me to get the machine to start all jobs from the origin position every time and not from some other seemingly random point? Tired of wasting materials.

Are you set to absolute coordinates?

I recommend reading through this:

This should give an overview of the different positioning methods like Dskall mentioned already.
How did you “create” your reference point? Did you enable “return to finish position” in device settings (I guess you shouldn’t).

I will read up on the link you posted, haven’t seen that one so thank you. I don’t believe I have the setting for return to finish position although after I cut some files it does return to the start position.

Dskall, I will have to check not that you mention it, I thought I was using the User Defined setting since the machine was starting at the origin I defined.

To be clear, I don’t have limit switches so my machine doesn’t perform the home function.
