Ortur Laser hits the right side and chatters

Hello,

When using my YRR rotary, the first time I Frame the laser head shoots from Home (Lower,Left) directly to the far right and chatters against the right side bar for a few seconds then comes back to Frame. I read other topics on this but haven’t put 2 & 2 together for a fix.

Regards,
Diveking

Chuck-type and Roller-type rotary accessories do not have a Limit Switch required for homing operations. Turning homing off is how this is most often prevented.

Some early Ortur firmware would accumulate offsets and not retain the engrave head location correctly. A firmware update may be of benefit. We should check.

Please request the following reports from your Ortur by typing the following commands into the Console window in LightBurn:
$i
$#
$$
Pressing enter after each request.

Please copy and paste those into a reply here.
We’ll be able to see which firmware version and which hardware you have in the $i report, the Machine Settings in the $$ report and the Workspace settings in the $# report.

I copied it twice I guess. Should have put it in a Word doc to attach. Sorry

No trouble at all, just looking at it now.

ESP32 control board and a ton of advanced features.

You may want to update the firmware. A recent improvement was made in March. Ortur – Firmware Repository – Ortur
I’m not fully convinced that it would be helpful as a first step.

Nothing detrimental here at all:

here’s the homing settings. It’s all still turned on.

The engraver may be calling for a homing operation at the start of the framing operation. There could also be a conflict with how the coordinate system is set up. Please capture the work area, and the Laser window so we can see how your project is set up when you begin to frame the job.

In the Console window in LightBurn click the switch that says ‘Show all’ on the right hand side, then frame your project.

Copy and paste the console window information into a reply here.

When using the rotary you’ll need to turn auto-homing off.
in the Console window in LightBurn enter the following command,
$22=0
Then press enter.

Then retest framing and see if it behaves.

I look forward to knowing what you see in the testing.

We’ll probably need this next
Here’s the video on setting up the coordinate system and getting a start.
