Ortur LMIII Stops firing past 200mm?

I have an Ortur LM III and run exclusively Lightburn for all my projects. This past weeked, the laser started shutting off whenever I go past 200mm in the Y Axis. The X-Y motion still continues, just the laser turns off. Checked, bed size still set at 400mm X 400mm, but will not burn now past 200mm. If I take the same pattern and move it less than 200mm, everything works fine. If I move it above minmum of 200mm, the patern traces but no light. There are no error messages in the console to give me insight. Software acts like it is being told to shut off?

Below are two CONSOLE listings one below 200mm working fine, one centered on 200mm where only half of the time laser light was on. Notice no errors, warnings or fault codes.

Any thoughts on something to look at?

Thanks,

One of the wires in the cable bringing power + PWM to the laser head has failed due to the constant flexing:

  • When the gantry is below 200 mm, the broken ends of the wire touch and the laser fires
  • When the gantry is beyond 200 mm, the broken ends pull apart and the laser doesn’t fire

The failure could be at a connector where the cable flexes enough to break the wire at the pin.

You may be able to isolate the break by simply wiggling the cable while the laser is firing. Set the machine to move at maybe 100 mm/min with just enough laser power to be visible.

The repair requires replacing whatever length of cable has the fault; Ortur should have repair parts available.
