Ortur LMP3 trouble shooting help

Brother-in-law has asked for help getting his new LMP 3 10w system to run. I need help getting the module to fire. Lightburn, Movement and Wi-Fi are all good, just cannot get the laser to lase. Known good 10-watt module likewise will not fire and new module has been shown to be functional of a different machine. It’s not the module.

Power button LED is GREEN for 5 seconds, then solid amber for 1/2 second.

What happens after the 1/2 second yellow? My first guess would be a power supply issue.

Color cycle repeats. GREEN,GREEN,GREEN,GREEN,-AMBER-,GREEN,GREEN

Frame, home and path all work from LB. Just not FIRE.

Need an Ortur Expert here, but the power light flashing typically indicates a fault of some sort. Could be an interlock that should be closed.

The LMPRO 3 Power supply (24v 4a) checked good on the my original LMPRO2 (24v 2a). I agree, there is some kind of fault or software switch that needs to be rectified, and I am having trouble seeing what that would be. Thanks for the extra set of eyes - it helps

Did you look at the Console window to see if it might be telling you something?

I see no Error or Alarm messages in there. I did find this for the OLM3, suggesting there are no alarms (red) detected.

Light Color Meanings

• White / Normal Cycling: Represents routine operational states like power-on, standby, or active engraving. Cycling red, blue, and green can also indicate special firmware upgrade modes. [1, 2]
• Yellow: Indicates in-progress operations such as Wi-Fi network setup, connecting to an access point, or system updates. Intermittent flashing white/yellow can also signal a missing TF/SD card. [1, 2]
• Red: Signifies critical anomalies, hardware faults, or safety triggers (such as an emergency stop, loose/tight axis constraints, or voltage errors). Red flashing coupled with yellow often points to a motor drive error or an unseated SD card. [1, 2, 3]

This redirects us into a possible wiring or connector issue.

One question I keep going back to is whether or not you are putting a 10w module on an OLM2 machine?

Thanks for the review mike, it really helps having an extra set of eyes. Yes my masterpro 2 is a 10 watt machine. I did get laser light out of the new module on the old machine.

Firmware on the problem machine is version 211, the most recent available as shown by ortyr website.

Let us tackle it from the other direction. Does the 10w module from thevold machine work on the new machine?

No, it does not.

Wiring, plug, or controller board, in that order. Tripple check everything again, leave no stone unturned.

If you are handy with a DVM or have an electronics technician (or Amateur Radio) friend, we can do some diagnostics if you find nothing in the tripple check.

You said new machine… have you reached out to Ortur yet?

In the “idle” state (after powerup and homing sequence)

The 5000ms solid green then the amber (orange) flash appears to be the state of the comms with orange being WiFi connected.

The full code chart is a bit confusing to say the least!

Since both the new and known-good 10W modules work elsewhere, I’d suspect the LM3 controller/safety circuit rather than the modules. I’d check the module cable/connectors and safety interlocks, then open LightBurn’s Console and try a low-power Fire command to see if any ALARM or error is reported. That Console output may be the quickest way to identify what is preventing the laser from firing.
