Overlapping objects, not engraved

I know I’ve this before but Im not sure what to call it. When two objects overlap how do you get the overlap to be white aka not engraved versus having it double engraved like its currently showing?

Basically like this second image, but I need it to happen on the engraving…

Are these vector graphics?

If so, make sure you’re meeting all these conditions:

  1. both shapes are in the same layer
  2. you’re using “Fill all shapes at once” or that the shapes are grouped and you’re using either “Fill all shapes at once” or “Fill groups together”
