I’ve been using Lightburn since 2021, bought the licence back then, but unfortunately it’s no longer eligible for updates. This didn’t bother me as my installed version worked fine for me.
However, a few days ago the laser kept stopping during the burning process. Unidentifiable characters then appeared in the console.
I then plugged in a new USB cable, but this did not bring any improvement. Then, following Neje’s instructions, I tried to connect the laser via Bluetooth. Since then, Lightburn has not worked at all. However, I don’t suspect a hardware defect because I can control the laser via the USB port with the same COM port that I use in Lightburn using the very simple Neje app.
A reinstallation of the (old) Lightburn software has not resulted in any improvement. What else could be the cause?
I have been using a Neje Master 2, albeit in a modified version with an enlarged working range and a new A40640 laser head, for over 2 years with Lightburn 1.2.02 without any problems.
Unidentifiable characters then appeared in the console.
Are you seeing these characters in your console window in LightBurn? This could mean that your baud rate is set incorrectly in your device settings.
If you click on ‘Devices’ in your laser tab, do you see multiple machine profiles? It’s possible that you created a new one and that’s why your baud rate is incorrect.
Make sure your laser is powered on and you are selecting the right com port in your laser tab.
Thanks for your answer!
I’m sure, i selected the right com, because if i use the small neje-application, it works with this port. Yes, i created more devices and now non of these works. I tried so much, i didn’t know how to roll back it all. What do you recommend to come to work again?
Ok, great, Lightburn now works with the Laser again. What did i do?
Ich installed the Neje Windows Driver (USB Serial CH340)
Then i flashed the firmware again.
It’s a pity that the latest version is at the bottom of the Neje page. Apparently I flashed to the oldest version yesterday.
Then i started Lightburn V 1.2.02 Which i installed new from the archived Versions yesterday.
Now the laser can be connected via Lightburn and i can move an burn, but i have 3 Problems.
-There is no Fire Button, which i had before
-The laser doesnt move to his beginning Point after burning.
-In Idle-Mode, the laser diode does not switch off completely after the process but continues to run in a very low range
I bought my license in 22.10.2021. Which is the last Version i can run?
Ok, i spent the money and renewed it
But anyway the 3rd problem persits
Sometimes when you update LightBurn, Windows will do strange things, like ignore your preferences/settings. Go to File>Load Prefs Backup>Select an option that worked for you previously to get your settings back.
If that doesn’t work…
Please click on devices in your laser tab, what profile configuration are you using? GRBL or something else?
There is no Fire Button, which i had before
Enable it in your device settings(enable laser fire button).
The laser doesn’t move to his beginning Point after burning.
Hello,
i’m using GRBL 1.1. - found the setting for the fire-button now, this is solved.
the only “problem” i have now is this small light in idle. The power is to less to burn something. If i press Fire-button at 0,25% it is much brighter.
I read something about a $40 command, which seems to be Neje-spezific, but the console says error3 if i try to set this at $40=0
