Just recently I have been having some loud popping while the laser is in operating, usually during a cutting phase.
Any idea what this could be?
Apologies if this is in the wrong area
Many Thanks
Graham

What kind of laser do you have?
Usually when this happens, the machine doesn’t work anymore… so some more information about what you are doing and what your machine is
If it happens only with the laser on, perhaps it’s water / glue / solvent exploding out of whatever you’re cutting.
If the sounds also happens with the laser off (set the layer power to 0% and run the same job as a test), it might be a loose follower nut on a leadscrew whacking back and forth as the direction changes. That should produce awful backlash, but maybe something similar has come loose.
I have the xTool D1 pro with 20w laser. The sounds seems to come from the material not the laser itself.
What is the material?
I am using 5mm plywood
Usually what happens is the glue vaporizes and causes this…
Does it do it consistently?
I’d assume it’s the material… that’s the only thing you can change out.
Your only other options are using the materials test for different speed/power settings.
