Problem with laser engraving pattern twice

I designed a brick wall in HO scale. The bricks are about .02x.09” with .002 spacing to represent mortar lines. For some reason, when I engrave a wall section, the laser engraves it twice. It’ll engrave all the bricks and start the process all over again. I have it set for just a single pass. Is there a setting I’m missing somewhere? Here’s a segment of a wall section:

Thanks for any help anyone has.

consider to attach your *.lbrn2 file to allow the structure and settings to be examined for easier resolution

…probably a duplicate?

I’m not sure what you mean. Can you explain in more detail as I’m not that CAD savvy. Thanks.

No CAD involved in attaching a file to the message. The message thread shows that you’ve replied to my post but your question appears geared more to bernd.dk’s reply, which would still be easier to address if you attach your file here.

Once you have attached the file, others including myself can examine the structure and provide precise guidance to solve the problem.

Sorry to sound so dumb, but how do I attach the file? Do I select the image in question and export it to here or do I do something else?

You should know where in your file structure (directories) that the file resides. When you click on the upload icon, direct the resulting dialog box to that folder, then select the file in question.

The upload icon appears in the toolbar of the reply box, about mid-point, just before the bullet list icon and is a rectangle with an upward pointing arrow. Pause your mouse over the icon and a help bubble will appear with “upload.”

If you have a Mac, this answer may not be precise.

single wall section.lbrn2.gc (419.9 KB)

For this file, I didn’t optimize the cut path. The optimized file is way bigger, more than 5MB, and wouldn’t upload.

Could using the un-optimized file be the problem?

Thanks.

I might be out of my league at this point. I don’t know what a .GC file is and when I removed the extension, it loaded an empty document. Do you have an ordinary .LBRN2 file in your folders?

I’m not sure about the optimized question either.

He uploaded the GCode output (text) file to the laser instead of the Lightburn (.lbrn2) design file. The .GC file is just raw commands to the laser. It does not contain the Lightburn settings information.

that makes sense and also makes that file of no value to assist in the troubleshooting. I don’t want the LightBurn settings information as it trips my profile over to match theirs and destroys my settings, until I figure out how to prevent/recover from that.

@AlanC, use the file, save feature in LightBurn and save the file in native form *.LBRN2, then attach that one.

I think I fixed the problem. If I turned off the optimise cut path setting, it would take 4-5 hours to do everything and would cut everything twice. Still don’t know why it would do that, but using the optimize cut path reduced the time to 45 minutes and cut everything just once.

Thanks for your help.

As others have written before, please send the lbrn2 file if you want an answer to it.
