I have used Lightburn for a number of years now but since the last update, (This may be relevant, not sure), I’ve had a few issues opening saved files. I’ve had nothing showing when opened ,only the file name appears, or
Project File Warning which shows as Expected ‘>’ or ‘/’ but go ‘[0-9]’.(line 1274?).
This loads partial bits of the work that’s been saved.
I have tried uninstalling Lightburn then re installing, tried on a different laptop, but it has the same results.
The files were ‘SAVED’ as ive always saved files in the past this way, not ‘SAVED AS’.
If anyone has any suggestions or help would be very grateful. Thanks everyone
Are you saving to a network drive or to something that’s being synced with a service like DropBox, OneDrive, GDrive, etc? Something is corrupting your file and often those are the culprits.
When when you say “tried a different laptop” do you mean tried opening these files or tried saving files and having those newly saved files come up with this error upon re-opening them?
Because if you get that error opening the file on one machine it will absolutely happen on another - the problem is not with LightBurn, it’s with the file itself - likely it’s just missing data at the end of the file.
Could you upload one of the files in question here for us to look at?
Hi , Thanks for the reply.
The original file was saved to an external hard drive, but I’ve had the same thing happen when saved to a different external hard drive. I’ve tried opening on two different laptops, both of which I’ve had no problems until recently ( The full design or whatever I’ve saved, shows correctly in ‘file explorer’ preview pane strangely enough.
Below is the problem file in case it helps.
angel paws.lbrn (1.1 MB)
Interesting. Is this the only file you’ve had the issue with or are there others?
More examples might be helpful to narrow down what’s up - honestly I’m stumped right now as to what it could be.
Yeah it’s got me beat. The other file just shows the name in the title when loaded no image or parts at all. Same circumstances too. Saved to either of the external hard drives and tried loading to either laptop
This is very odd. We’ve seen it happen in isolation but never in a reproducible way. Is this happening with every single file you try to save or just occasionally with some?
Would you be willing to install an previous version and confirm if it still happens with that? I’d like to narrow down if it’s actually something with the new release of LightBurn or something specific to your hardware. You can find all the old releases here: Releases · LightBurnSoftware/deployment · GitHub
Hi.
It’s only occasionally that these happen, however it’s the same two issues that crop up. The most common issue I get, is nothing shows with just the file name loading or partial and file name loading.
I tried using the previous 2 versions with the same result showing. However as you said earlier, if the files saved or corrupted on one it will load the same on all. It may be an issue with using two different laptops. I tend to work on designs, then save onto the external hard drive attached to my newer laptop and load to an older Dell laptop which is specifically used for and connected to my laser.
It may be a mixture of any number of things unfortunately so I’ll just have to try and remember EXACTLY how I’ve done the next file if it happens again then hopefully be able to work out what happened.
Thanks anyway for at least trying.
