QR code on a stone, is there any option to decrease squares?

I have attempted to engrave QR code to a stone. It looks like squares get increased. Is there any option to decrease individual squares?

It looks like stone melts a little bit and the dot is not so sharp.

It looks very blurry, can’t you work a little on your focus and line spacing and power/speed? Another problem is the stone itself, the contrast when lasering a light stone is not good. Slate or dark stones work better.

I have attempted to make focus as good as possible. The stone surface is not planar. It could be ±5mm out of focus.

The problem is that too small power is not visible, but more power causes to blur. Some compromise could be searched for.

Even this quality is good for engraving some joke like these one.

This could be an issue. My 101.6mm (4") lens has a depth of focus (dof) of just over 10mm, I highly doubt yours has this dof ability.

You also want to focus to the center, as close as possible. That makes the best use of your dof.

:smiley_cat:

The second attempt has been done with half power than previous one and air assist on. It was 200mm/min and 95% from 20W. Lines are much more sharper, but also much worse visible:

Diode LASERs does not have depth of focus so high. Anyway, when DOF would be an issue, part of QR code would look signifficantly better. It looks to me, that whole QR code looks a same. It seems to me that this particular stone melts and melting point causes blurr. So it would need less power and more repeating.
