Questions about lightburn and our boss laser

Hi guys. Couple of questions. We have a boss laser and have made the top right corner or origin. When we slide say a cutting board in the top right corner and send file to the machine it is actually flipping the design over and down and reversing the text. Thoughts on that?

Also eat is the best lense for glassware, the one that came with it does not have the quality of our epilog

Finally boss sent 3 different cone heads you screw in on the bottom of the laser. What are each of those best used for?

Thanks in advance

Given that I’m not familiar with the machine in question, I’ll try to help as best I can.
Actually, the Lightburn literature is what helps; I’ll just provide the link.

I hope this help!

Hi @jdwilliams1

Usually, you don’t get to choose your machine’s homing origin, which is set by the location of the homing hardware. On most Boss Laser laser cutters, it is usually the back-right corner, but you should check that it is the location of the switches.

Often, Boss Lasers use Ruida-based controllers, and sometimes the keypad can be flipped. You can correct this (or check it) by using the keypad Z/U key, then navigating to Screen Origin and setting this to the correct orientation.

You might need to try a few orientations to get it right.

All cnc machines have to know where they are in the work area. Homing one of these determines which quadrant the machine operates. This is the coordinate system - the red arrow is 0, 0.

If it homes to the top left, then you’re operating within quadrant IV.

Front left, then it’s quadrant I

Knowing which quadrant it’s in, for one, relieves the controller of dealing with negative numbers.

Generally, you can’t pick this, it’s pretty much wired this way. When you power up the machine it should home to one of the four corners, that’s it’s origin.

Good luck.
