Re-Homing Atomstack X24 PRO

Hi, I can’t work with my machine anymore, the x-axis keeps shaking when I try to move it in a project.
The y-axis moves without making any noise.
lightburn keeps giving me the same error:

ALARM:1

Hard limit attivato.

qualcuno puo aiutarmi?

I tried $H, $$, $X
but I couldn’t solve anything

Does X and Y axis move in the right direction when you use keys to jog it?

Is it sitting on a limit switch?

The y-axis moves, but the x-axis struggles to move and keeps shaking and sometimes it moves correctly. I would need the gcode to bring all the original parameters to the factory state

Yes if I do it manually they move without making noise. The problem is only on the x-axis which no longer finds 0

Seems it’s not tripping the X limit switch.

The Pn:Y statement in the message above shows that the Y-Axis limit switch is activated. If the engraver module is not sitting near the X-Axis (where the limit is), confirm the extent of the false signal by manually activating the switch (by hand, or with some adhesive tape) and confirming the message status does or doesn’t change.

If the message changes when the switch is manually activated the switch is configured incorrectly or wired incorrectly.

If the message doesn’t change when the switch is manually activated, you may have a broken switch, or a broken wire. Both switches are likely to be identical and they should feel the same when pressed.

A final temporary diagnostic step would be swapping the X-Axis and Y-Axis limit switch cables at the Controller. If the Pn:Y statement changes to Pn:X then you know that the problem is in the hardware outside the controller. If the Pn:Y statement persists the problem is in the controller.

Please let us know what you discover.

I tried to do what you told me, the x-axis does not move anymore. I think there is a broken cable or the 2 limits are broken.
it is the only solution I can find.
the last message that the console now tells me is this:

ALARM:1

ESISTE UN COMANDO $ PER RIPORTARE LA CONSOLLE ALLE IMPOSTAZIONI DI FABBRICA? HO PROVATO CON $RST=$ E DICE QUESTO:

IS THERE A $ COMMAND TO RESET THE CONSOLE TO FACTORY DEFAULTS? I TRIED $RST=$ AND IT SAYS THIS:

SCHIACCIO IL PULSANTE HOME E NON SI MUOVE PIU L ASSE X E COMPARE DI NUOVO L ERRORE:
ALLARM 1 …

I PUSH THE HOME BUTTON AND THE X AXIS DOESN’T MOVE ANYMORE AND THE ERROR APPEARS AGAIN:
ALARM 1 …

Repeat the position report request from your first post to confirm the status of the switches. If the switches are held in the activated state, you can get this ALARM 1 statement. If the engraver has an ‘activated switch’ and if the engraver can not back away from the switch, the engraver can generate this alarm.

I’m intentionally using ‘Activated’ and ‘Deactivated’ because the controller can be set up for switches that are either, ‘Normally Open’ (closed to activate) or ‘Normally Closed’ (open to activate). There are benefits and drawbacks to either hardware choice.

Unplug the switches and repeat the request for the report. This will show us how the switches are supposed to be wired.

  • If the switches are reported as not-active, then the controller is expecting Normally Open switches. These switches close when activated. A broken wire in the switch circuit will prevent the controller from detecting a switch that closes.

  • If the switches are reported as active, then the controller is expecting Normally Closed switches. These switches open when activated. In this case, a broken wire in the switch circuit will be detected by the controller as ‘stuck in the active state’. This is what I am expecting to be true for your Atomstack.

Please confirm the results of the Position report and which type of switches that your controller is expecting.

Yes, that is the command, and the engraver has confirmed that the Settings Reset command was successful. Please request the Settings report ($$) and the Information report ($i) from your Atomstack device in the Console window in LightBurn. Please copy and paste both reports into your reply here.

I am very interested in seeing the settings between $21 and $27. These will offer insight into the homing behaviour that Atomstack set up when the engraver was built.

Now that the successful reset has occurred, we can start with the factory settings for your engraver.

Did you return the switches to their original connection points and remove the adhesive tape after the previous test?
