Red cross no longer working after update and laser is off

After the update my position cross no longer comes on and when I frame something the laser will fire and it looks like it is in the correct place but when I run the file it is way off. Help?

Sounds like laser head offset got wiped or reset on update. You may have to re enter the distance away from laser your cross laser is so.it frames right. My guess is your file is off by exactly the distance your cross is from laser.

I think you are correct about that part. Would you happen to know how to fix it? The other issue is that the red cross no longer even comes on at all.

Device settings > enable pointer offset.

It is there already had -16mm and 0 still doing the same thing. Also like I said the red cross is not even lighting up anymore at all

What machine is this for?

It is the XTool D1

Crosshairs need to be enabled in XCS. Check there. As long as there’s nothing wrong with the equipment you should be able to turn it on there.

It is enabled with no offset but still doesn’t come on.

Did you try toggling off and on in XCS? If so, I wonder if this is a hardware fault. You may want to physically examine the laser module to see if there’s any apparent damage or disconnection.

Do the crosshairs appear while using XCS?

I did that and no they do not appear at all. No visible damage to the module at all. Everything was fine until the update before last. I use lightburn primary and it doesn’t work in either

This is likely coincidental as LightBurn has no mechanism by which it can change the crosshairs.

I’d suggest using blue diode directly for framing or adding an external laser pointer if it’s essential for your workflow.

If you’re within warranty or close you may want to open a ticket with xTool.

I may have to do that. I did fire the laser and use the beam to frame but even doing that my burn is still off. I can deal with not having the crosshairs as long as the laser fire is accurate when I frame

In what way? This should correlate exactly to the burn area. Did you disable the Pointer Offset in Edit->Device Settings? You’ll need to for the frame to match up with the primary laser.

DUH… with all this messing around I left the offset on  thanks for the help.

It happens to the best of us.

If it’s not too much trouble, I heard that XCS dropped a new version of their software on Nov 29. Would you mind checking to see if the Firmware in your engraver has been updated? The Firmware Version will be stated in the initial connection message in the Console window of LightBurn when you first connect to your engraver.

Are you talking about the newest update 1.4.04. My alignment is off as well. Now I am getting a double fill but single line. What happened?

No, here my concern is about update from Makeblock for their xTool D1 and D1 Pro engravers.

If this is for your Ruida-controlled engraver it would be great if you’d start a new thread in the Ruida section.

This is on my XTOOL D1 and yes I have updated to the current. We figured out it was the offset. But the red cross still does not work
