hey folks! i am running into an issue with setting up repeat makring. the rotary passes all the other tests as far as full 360 start and finish, works great with tumblers, glass, or anything in standard rotary mode, but when it is in repeat marking it seems to not follow the trend. i have a jig set up for 8 total pieces and it should be an increment angle of 45, but when i click start it barely rotates from one spot to the next. i can get it to be kind of close at 115 degrees, but it gets out by the end of the full rotation. am i missing something simple or is there something more? running this on a uv laser, 175 lens, rotary set correct at 12800 steps. thank you for any advice!
Might need some more information, but for starters turn off rotary enable for repeat marking.
Second it is possible to enter the angle and count in a way that it fills the angle with the count, like angle 22.5 count 8 it will try to fill the single 22.5 angle with 8 engravings, rather then 360 degrees with 8 engravings spaced 22.5 degrees
Those were the first 2 mistakes I made. EDIT: bad at math, 45 not 22.5!
rotary enable is turned of, and i have tried the 45 and it was to no avail haha. i will triple/quadruple check the angle again and see if somehow my eyes missed something though. EDIT: tried again and no luck
So, tried it a minute ago. set count to 8 and hit “Calculate” 45 deg populated in the increment field.
Then ran 8 positions @ 45 deg. as expected.
Question, what kind of laser, what kind of rotary you use for tumblers, and what rotary table do you have?
Next guess is you don’t have your steps set correctly. My steps on my rotary are 38400, (6:1 reduction belt drive) but my steps on rotary table are 64000 (10:1 reduction worm gear) Both running off the same microstep driver, dips set for 6400. So take your steps per 360, and multiply by the reduction ratio of your table if any.
Now if you are using a roller rotary for your tumblers, and not a chuck, things might be a little different, but you still need to know the steps coming off the microstep driver and the ratio of the rotary table.
Luck!

thank you for all the awesome information! i am running a chinese uv laser with a sanou k11-80 rotary. i use the same rotary for tumblers etc, then just turn it 90 degrees and mount the plate to it like most do for repeat marking. i will review my steps, but when i run the standard rotary test it always does a perfect 360, but i will double check in the external axis setup. i will get some screenshots up soon, and will continue checking! thanks again.
the problem was it saved some very old settings from a different rotary from a long time ago. it was okay on the rotary settings steps per rotation, but the external acis setup for some reason reverted to 5000 steps. very interesting dillema, and will check my other computer to see if its the same, and hopefully it saves the settings. thanks a million!
A lot of times when upgrading LB, the steps revert to 5000. Something else that resets is the jump/ delay on galvo machines. Easy to reload backup file after upgrading.
awesome!! i really appreciate all of the help
